Mary Carroll Murphy, an esteemed business owner and former Fortune 500 executive, originates from Western Massachusetts. Digital Equipment Corporation relocated her to Bedford, New Hampshire, in 1990, and she was tasked with marketing their innovative integrated office systems. Throughout her career, she has resided and worked in various regions, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, California, and abroad, securing multiple high-profile awards in the information technology and financial services industries.

She now leads a groundbreaking software company and, with her husband, owns significant acreage in Francestown, New Hampshire. Here, they constructed their "forever" home, Black Shoals, beautifully situated along the Piscataquog River.

As CEO of Cost Cures, based in Peterborough, New Hampshire, she heads a disruptive firm established in 2024 aimed at providing transparency in healthcare costs across the nation. The company is developing an AI-based platform to help users find competitively priced medical services, integrating telemedicine and concierge services accessible through its website and mobile app.

Together with her husband, she founded Black Shoals Farm in 2022. This farm focuses on sustainable, non-GMO, and chemical-free farming of fruits, vegetables, edible flowers, and herbs in Francestown, New Hampshire.

Her journey in wealth management began notably in 2011 when she was appointed as the first Charles Schwab Independent Branch franchisee. By early 2022, she had managed nearly $1 billion in assets. Charles Schwab recognized her pioneering role with the Champion Award, after which she sold her franchise later that year.

Her professional path started in 1979 with Eversource in Massachusetts and Connecticut. By 1982, she was a Technical Analyst at ITT/Hartford Insurance Group, quickly ascending to higher managerial roles and leading global initiatives for IBM/Lotus in Europe.

After pausing her career in 2001 to care for her parents, she pursued an M.Ed. from Rivier University in 2004. Briefly, she taught before reentering the financial sector with UBS Financial Services and, later, MassMutual.

Murphy graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1978 with a degree in communications, arts, and sciences and later from Rivier University in 2004 with an M.Ed., marking her academic success.

Her accolades include DEC 100 and Decathlon sales awards from Digital Equipment Corporation, an Electronic Mail Association Leadership Award, and several recognitions from IBM/Lotus and Charles Schwab, among others.

Philanthropically, she and her husband support local nonprofits and have contributed to community development, including donating a conservation easement to enhance local land trusts.

Murphy has served on the Rivier University board of trustees since January 2016, advocating for the university's mission to transform hearts and minds.
